The Mother of Waters

The source of all things is like a Mother; you can think of Her as the great creative womb or matrix of reality. It does not do to consider this "womb" as a thing distant from things, apart from things, found in a distant world; instead, it is to be considered as a creative force that is one with all things here and now, that spiritual power about things which is the fertile basis of any form. Life flows in a great river from the Mother of us all, and returns to her, a perfect circle of dynamic power.

Life-force was meant to flow, strong and joyful. Those who dam up their life-force make it become trapped like stagnant pools inside themselves. This condition causes them to manifest depression and anger. Those who let the vital power flow, they manifest joy and optimism. Wicked spirits can steal a person's life force, dam the river, cause these dark moods and pain, but people who refuse to trust their fellow men and women, who refuse to love with the power our hearts urge us on to, and who refuse to accept the reality of their own emotions, who give way to guilt, do the same terrible damage to themselves as any wicked spirit. Both need to be healed by power wielded by a mystic, but a return to love and honesty of emotion can release them just as quickly.

The common power that unites us all, the vital power of life, is always changing, always dynamic, always in flux, as anyone can see who examines the world which is seemingly "inside" them or "outside" them. It is good that it should be always in motion, always changing, and good that we should derive joy from joining in its constant flow. Indeed, there is no other way of finding happiness; trying to dam the flow of life-power up and trap it for yourself leads to a dark end. None of us are ultimately seperate from another, and none are meant to capture and jealously guard life force; we are meant to let it flow and share it.

The Water Mother has much wisdom to share. Water changes to adapt instantly to whatever container it is placed in, filling it perfectly- it flows effortlessly, with full speed and assurance over any surface, following the path of least resistance. It does not fight to go places where it cannot, and it always finds a way to get where it is going, patiently waiting even when it does get trapped in some place. Water, which easily parts for even the lightest brush of a person's fingers, is still strong enough to break rocks and reduce the mountains to sand, and never with a bit of effort- by simply being what it is, falling and flowing and swirling, it overcomes anything.

Merging with the watery spirit inside us, which indeed mixes with earth to compose our bodies and which is the ruling spirit of our own moods and emotions, is the secret to overcoming any difficult we may face within or without.
