ACT VII: A GOLDEN ROOM UNSEEN

(Scene: Morning, with a tower in the background, with a dead man hanging from the tower window by his neck. There is a golden door, glowing amid the trees outside the tower.)

(STEFHEN’S ghost, dressed in brilliant pure white, and with a pale white face, and a golden noose around his neck, is led onto the stage by LUCIFER, to the sound of very beautiful and ethereal music.)

(LUCIFER leads him to the door, which opens to reveal a brilliant, golden interior room, and within, are the luminescent ghosts of NICOLAS, ROSALYN, and a mysterious, unknown and beautiful woman. LUCIFER helps STEFHEN inside the room, and closes the door. The door has many stars carved on it.)

(LUCIFER begins to sing)

Lucifer's Hymn to Love

LUCIFER

Love, give this heart wings
Let it know the true beloved
For which it sweetly sings

Hide yourself no more
I felt you once, and fell for you
Please, grant me wings to soar

O, Give this heart wings
Let it rise above the bitter woe
That binds it to earthly things

Torment man no more
Their sin is only loneliness
Torment them no more.

Love, help them discern
Let them know the true beloved
For which they always yearn

Oh, Give their hearts wings
Let them rise above the bitter woe
That binds them to earthly things.

(End)
