WELCOME to the homepage of my familia, a branch of the Gens Agoria within Nova Roma. Familia Galus Agorius Taurinus is devoted to reconstructing and practicing the ancient religions of the Classical World- and so long as Nova Roma holds the noble Religio Romana as central to its very existence as a micronation, we are loyal supporters of it.

The ancient religions of pre-christian Hellas and Roma are not just curiosities from the past, but precious and important expressions of thousands of years of ancestral experience, power, and depth. It was Pagan tradition, honor, virtue, and mystical presence that made the Romans great, and which made them deserving of the crown of the known world.

This familia is devoted to remembering, reconstructing, and practicing the Pagan Faiths of Hellas and Roma in the modern day, for these things are the birthright of all westerners, and of all the world.

GENS AGORIA is named after the noble and pious Vettius Agorius Praetextatus, an important fourth-century Roman imperial official and "leader of the pagans in the Senate, a devout adherent of traditional religion". Praetextatus was proconsul of Achaea in 362 under the philhellenic pagan Emperor Julian the 'Apostate', a particular honour. He was prefect of Rome in 367 under the Emperor Valentinian, when Christian factions were disputing the papacy. During this period he restored the Portico of the Twelve Gods with its statues in the Roman Forum. He was prefect of the Praetorian guard when he died in 384, and consul elect for 385, the year of his wife's death.

THIS great man stood up against Christian tyranny, at a time when Noble Rome's once-tolerant laws- laws allowing all people to believe and practice what religion they chose- were being re-written by Christians to be in line with their intolerance and spiritual elitism. It was believed by many in the ancient world that the crimes committed by Christians against the true Religio Romana, their abuses against human rights, freedom, and decency, and their countless blasphemies against the traditional religion, were the main causes that ultimately brought about the downfall of Rome. Come here to see the inscriptions on noble Praetextatus' wife's tomb, which he lovingly dedicated to her.

IN HONOR of the thrice-blessed and noble Emperor Julian, who heroically stood up for the Traditional Religions of the peoples of Rome and Europe long after christian tyranny had attempted to diminsh them, My familia follows Julian's example and looks to the venerable Hellenic world as one of our primary models of faith, piety, and religious practice. We also look to Hellenism for our understandings of the Ever-Living Gods, and what role they play in our lives, and in the ongoing life of the world. Come here to see the homepage of the Julian Society.

WE AT Familia Galus Agorius Taurinus are devout reconstructionist Pagans, however, in accordance with wisdom and insights gained from studying classical history and philosophy, we shun live animal sacrifice. To see why, go here and here. The Patron Goddesses of our Familia are Victoria, Ceres, Proserpine, and Diana. The Patron Gods of our Familia are Silvanus, Janus, Apollo, and Liber Pater. Our familia supports and embraces the Twelvefold Declaration of the Modern Pagan.

Our Familia is always looking to adopt any current or prospective citizen of Nova Roma who loves the Gods and the Religio first and foremost. Please write to the Paterfamilias at the link below, and may the Gods Bless you and your family with great abundance.

Divine Maiden,
You are beloved by my family, all our days.
Flourishing in Eternal Youth,
You run swift-footed with a hound forever by your side:
I have stained your altars red
And you have led me into blessed stillness
And silence.
